She Believed, She Could, So She Did - Ar. Sawani Virkud

Ar. Sawani Virkud

Hello Friends, I am back again with an inspiring and beautiful journey of Ar. Sawani C Virkud. She happens to not only be creative, but also a very warm and kindhearted person. She was always creatively inclined and so chose a profession which felt like closest to the same. She is a professionally qualified Architect. She finished her education from Mumbai and stared working in Architectural & Engineering firms in Mumbai and later in Pune. With time, responsibilities in the personal front and health issues cropped up. She took the decision to go back to her roots and pursue her passion – everything creative and artistic! She currently stays in Pune with her husband and her 7-year-old son. Apart from her passion for art and craft, she loves to drive and travel.

Let’s now delve into some questions to understand how she transformed her passion into a career.

 ·         What service(s) or product(s) do you offer/manufacture?

Trying to use & share my skills! I am building my brand under the name *🎨PALETTE & SCISSORS️* For the past three years I am conducting various Art/Craft workshops and alongside weekly batches from my home and vis various Art studios. The Pandemic pushed me to experiment with the online mode and has really helped me reach out to enthusiasts more than ever. I also take up projects for customized Artwork that include Paintings, Murals, and also customized gifting options.

Mediums covered – Acrylics, watercolors, Oil pastels crayons, Color pencils, Coffee painting, Knife painting, etc.

 ·         How did you get your idea or concept?

No specific source as such. I guess inspiration is all around us... We just need to be more observant!! Also, I feel we need to look within and reflect at what makes us happy. Doing what makes us happy, changes the meaning of success. It adds a lot of contentment and satisfaction yo our lives.

·         What do the day-to-day responsibilities of the role look like?

Quite challenging to be frank, especially in the current situation where our world is amidst a pandemic. Managing household tasks + my passion for Art is just like a balancing scale. but I believe it’s easier to take out time for things that you love. The prioritization is easy and almost involuntary.

·         What are some of the mistakes you wish you could have avoided?

Like most people I don't even know when I make those mistakes but nevertheless, I try to amend them as soon as realization hits me & learn from those mistakes of course. Also, I am certain it’s important to make mistakes, they act as steppingstones and lend us important lessons of life. Be it in professional or personal life, lessons learned will always be helpful.

·         Are you happy and what would you change?

Yes, I am happy and content. I take each day as it comes, and for now I don’t want to change anything.

 ·         A quote you stand by

There are Quite a few I follow actually... 'You're always alone' & 'Never give up' are on the top of the list.

Its so comforting to see people like Sawani, live their dream and be so happy and content. I wish for many women to take inspiration from her, as she is a MS (Multiple Sclerosis) survivor and fighter. Let’s break our molds, we are set in and go about creating beautiful lives and worthy stories. As they say every adversity can be a blessing if we know how to capitalize it. Sawani took Pandemic and lock down as a challenge and using the online platform she has now extended her art and craft workshops for USA population also. Don’t wait, do connect with her today!
