She Believed, She Could, So She Did - Dr. Amruta Ramdin

Image
Dr. Amruta Ramdin It is said "Pampered kids become weak adults", I am sure they haven't met Dr. Amruta Ramdin. A very determined and levelheaded person. Raised in a middle-class household in the town of Nanded, she had many hobbies. She had always been creatively inclined, since childhood. She used to sketch and paint well. She also being both artistic and disciplined, was very keen on learning the classical dance form of Bharatnatyam . She would put on music and dance her heart out behind closed doors. She did her own choreography and studies were still her first focus. She eventually completed her graduation in medicine for Homeopathy from Aurangabad and went on to have her own Clinic in Nanded. She enjoyed a very successful stint with her medicine practice. Wedding followed by a change of location brought her to Pune. She started with working in hospitals as resident medical officer (RMO) in Pune. Soon, she completed her course in clinical research and began her corp

She Believed, She Could, So She Did - Priyanka Hansa

Image
Priyanka Hansa "When plan A doesn't work, remember there are 25 more alphabets", this best describes Priyanka's spirit and approach to life. This mindset was inculcated in her at a very early stage of life and her father played a pivotal role in shaping her as an adaptable, yet independent person. One of her first plans started with the goal of joining the Indian Army. The goal was easy to choose but needed a lot of willpower and determination for realization. She ticked all her check-boxes, with learning Karate, playing sports to stay fit and reach physical fitness parameters for her goal. She even learnt horse riding; she basically was preparing to be her own knight in shining armor. But as it is said, change is the only constant in life. Some change of events lead to fresh plans and she moved to Pune for a job in IT sector post her graduation.  After a decade of successful IT career, she had to quit her job in 2011. She had the firsthand responsibility of taking ca

Me to bus subah uthake office chali jati thi.

Mujhe nahi pata tha, kis darakht ke piche se kitani dhoop mere ghar me ati thi, Me to bus subah uthake office chali jati thi. Shaam ka manjaar kya hota tha, badallo ki piche suraj ki kirane kaise chup jati thi, Me to bus subah uthake office chali jati thi. Meri balcony ki fulwari me kitane phool khile hai, me kaha gin pati thi, Me to bus subah uthake office chali jati thi. Garama garam khane ki khusboo, me uska luft kaha le pati thi, Me to bus subah uthake office chali jati thi.   Badkismati kahu ya khushkismati, kuch mahino se ghar par hu, Subha ki shanti aur, Raat ka sukoon jee rahi hu, Dopehra ki chai ab me apne sath pee rahi hu, Jis ghar ko banana ke liye, me roj subah uthkar office chali jati thi, Aaj pehli baar us ghar me reh rahi hu. She Believed, She Could, So She Did - Shilpa Venkat

They say Geminis are highly creative, that they make great entrepreneurs, that they can be highly artistic and inventive. Well, I am a true-blue Gemini 😊. I love to dabble in multiple things. For me, learning is a never-ending process. I have completed my Masters in English Literature and a PG Diploma in Journalism and Mass Media. I started my career as a Sub Editor in Mumbai, later worked as a Senior Editor for a financial firm. Marriage brought me to Pune, the city has opened so many new avenues for me and given my life a new perspective in many different ways. I am a go-getter and have a flair to learn things on my own. I strongly believe in hard work and strong determination. Nothing comes easy in life, unless you have the willpower to achieve it. Choosing to stay away from a fixed full-time career allowed me to try out different experiences over the last decade or more. I have written travel blogs from my own experiences, made and sold quilled and terracotta jewelry for a while,

She Believed, She Could, So She Did - Dipti Trivedi

Image
Dipti Trivedi So how do I start talking about someone, who moved from counting numbers to splashing colors. It does not look like a calculated move at all. But then passion never measures risk; it just takes a plunge! What better way to start talking about our vivacious Dipti Trivedi. She is a Chartered Accountant by profession and has been part of the Corporate workspace for 10 years. "Follow your calling and walk away from the crowd" is exactly what happened and she decided to give herself a fresh chance. Chance to find a new way to be herself, while on exciting but uncertain paths. Her trail led her to self-discovery at the end of her comfort zone. She found her freedom, intertwined in Mandala.  This artistic self was a pleasant discovery for her. She was a good student but never realized she had a creative streak. Like most of us, she did have the curiosity to learn things, but studies and time management never really allowed it. Until one day, when she set up her priori

Is Period Leave Justified ?

Image
Let me begin with saying,  YES  Period leave is justified and is not a privilege - Period! Thanks, Zomato, for bringing this to everyone’s notice! It’s not a secret, we all know for most part of their adult lives, women bleed every month! Women hide and go about with their daily chores be it at home or workplace. Girls hit puberty and this roller coast becomes a part of their life. Imagine being on a roller-coaster  of hormones for so many years. These hormones affect us physically and emotionally. This happens not just in puberty but all along our reproductive age. The same people who are debating if it a progressive or regressive thing to allow paid period leaves, are the ones who crack jokes on PMS! #NOSHAMEINPAIN We still have a lot of stigma attached to menstruation in our country. I think adding a benefit to utilize, will make it an easier and more open topic of discussion at the table. Being comfortable and able to rest bare minimum on the first day of your period is merely

She Believed, She Could, So She Did - Dipali Akolkar

Image
"Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think" was quoted by Albert Einstein. If there is one person, I know who believes in this and has always applied this in her life, it must be Dipali Akolkar. All through her childhood she had been a keen observer. As a kid she explored all things around her be it the working of a clock, grinders or an Iron. She has always been this curious kid, who even opened things like to understand principles of physics and other basic scientific principles. She visited manufacturing industries in her childhood and now takes her students to give them firsthand experience. Upon getting married, she moved to London. She was quick to realize the education system that Britishers gave us was not what they had in their country today. Even during her stay in USA, she felt we are population that has a logical mindset and felt there was a need to bring change in the way education was being carried out in India. This was the o

DISHWASHER - My best buy this pandemic

Image
Friends like all of you the lock down didn't only bring me anxiety of Corona but also of not having a maid. I have a new found respect and empathy for them. I am empathetic, cause I have lived life in some sense literally in their shoes. All during the lock down I wondered, how do these women work for so many households. It felt like a very laborious job, with comparatively low pay and no job security. However, during the pandemic how much ever I wanted, I could not have my maid back. I had all household chores, kid, cooking and office to manage. With this started my search to find ways to simplify these daily chores with assistive machines. The first that came to my mind was "Dishwasher". I was determined to buy one, but later realized it's not just me....a lot many people felt the need and took a decision. Thereby the stocks running out. However with a lots of prayers and patience we continued to search and finally on the fateful day of 4th August I could ord

Ghee - An Ayurvedic super food

Image
Pic courtesy - Google I recently ran a poll, asking what did people prefer "Butter" or "Ghee". We had people tilting on both sides, but "Ghee" won with a huge majority. So, with a vast majority, choosing the "Ayurvedic superfood" , I guess it’s time to decipher it better. Ghee is nothing but clarified butter. It has slightly higher concentration of  fat  than Butter and more  calories . One tablespoon of Ghee has about 120  calories , whereas one tablespoon of Butter has about 102  calories.  Let’s dig a bit deeper and understand its significance from an Ayurvedic point of view. Ayurveda is the ancient science of life; its  principles are embedded in Indian tradition and culture. Ayurveda has for centuries recognized Ghee to be the best quality fat. Western world is now catching up to this trend.  In Ayurveda, Ghee has been considered a  rasayana , which means a healing food that balances both body, mind and enhances ojas , or "life energy”

She Believed, She Could, So She Did - Prerna Banga

Image
Prerna Banga There are very few people, who stand so true by their name. Prerna is one of them, she does possess an endearing and inspirational personality. Talk to her once, and she charms you big time. She is a very soft-spoken and calm person. She has the mischievous ring to her demeanor, truly a sweetheart. I feel so good to bring her up in our series. She is a B.E by qualification and in the initial years after her education worked as a Technical writer. She enjoyed what she did then and loves what she is doing now. Her passion for helping people, is the bigger motive that she is trying to achieve today. Lets now hear from her about the journey she is on.   1. What service(s) or product(s) do you offer/manufacture? ... I live each day of mine as a tribute to Yoga and its marvels. It’s the ancient scien

Guru - Significance in life!

Image
This is the first prayer we learn, when we start school education in India. It’s a small 2 verse  sholk , with a lot of meaning. let’s begin with understanding the meaning of  Guru , before we embark further. The word Guru originates from the two Sanskrit words " Gu " and " Ru ". " Gu " means darkness and " Ru " means dispersal. So, it literally means someone who takes you from darkness to light. The light we are talking here is more of an awakening that Guru brings with education. In Indian culture we give teacher the stature of god and beyond.    Let’s now divulge into the meaning of this sholk.  In this verse, we are mentioning three important deities of Hindu mythology. The Brahma - Origin, Vishnu - Sustenance and Mahesh - Destroyer. So here we are comparing a teacher to all three. What does it imply, the teacher helps create curiosity, learning ability and thought process of a child. The teacher then goes on to help them retain and
