My Kenstar Aster Digi 1500-Watt Oxy Fryer (3.5 L)

An air-fryer is a portable counter-top kitchen appliance. It has heating mechanism with a fan that helps rush hot air around the found kept in a deep basket. Hot air surrounds food as it is submerged in hot oil in a deep fryer. This rapid circulation makes the food crisp, very much like deep frying. Air fryers use little to no oil to get the same effect as traditional deep frying.

Is it better than a convection oven?

I would say both are different appliances. An Oven uses heat generated by an element and slowly radiates it over food. Air fryer on the other hand uses rapid air technology and is comparatively faster. Small size helps circulate the heat more evenly, crisping up your food without hot spots.

Reasons to consider when deciding to buy an Air Fryer:

Cost: It’s not a very expensive appliance to buy. They range between 4000 to 12000 rupees. The price may depend upon, size, voltage and digital/manual handling and/or display features.

Space: Its quite compact, doesn't take a lot of space on kitchen counter. A little bigger than your mixer grinder and can be fit in a corner, its tall so needs headspace.

Ease: It’s very easy to use and that is its USP. Doesn't really heat up the kitchen or itself too much. The handle in the front makes it very easy to handle it without mittens. It comes with a lot of programmed settings, making cooking a child's play. Also, cleaning is very easy and over all cooking is mess free.

Taste: 10/10, my experience with all that I have made in the Air fryer. The crunch, texture, is 100%.

Health: It does help you cook in a healthier manner. Amount of oil used is minuscule compared to deep frying. Snacking is fun with an Air fryer.

So, do I recommend?

Absolutely, yes! But everything has its advantages and drawbacks. The drawbacks that I discovered, didn't dampen my experience though. Nonetheless listing them, to help you make a better decision.

1. Its small and may need multiple batches to cook food for a big family. It works well for a family of 4.

2. If you don’t frequently eat fried stuff, it may be left idle for long.

3. You need to welcome it like your third burner on a gas stove and frequently think ways of using it.

4. Very runny batters cannot be cooked in the basket.

Go ahead, I am sure you can now make an informed decision!
