She Believed, She Could, So She Did - Dipti Trivedi

 Dipti Trivedi

So how do I start talking about someone, who moved from counting numbers to splashing colors. It does not look like a calculated move at all. But then passion never measures risk; it just takes a plunge! What better way to start talking about our vivacious Dipti Trivedi. She is a Chartered Accountant by profession and has been part of the Corporate workspace for 10 years. "Follow your calling and walk away from the crowd" is exactly what happened and she decided to give herself a fresh chance. Chance to find a new way to be herself, while on exciting but uncertain paths. Her trail led her to self-discovery at the end of her comfort zone. She found her freedom, intertwined in Mandala.

This artistic self was a pleasant discovery for her. She was a good student but never realized she had a creative streak. Like most of us, she did have the curiosity to learn things, but studies and time management never really allowed it. Until one day, when she set up her priorities and followed her heart. Its about time now, we hear from her……

1. What service(s) or product(s) do you offer/ manufacture?

I have an online shop on Redbubble (DiptiTrivedi.redbubble.com) which caters to customers across the globe and offers a variety of customized products such as apparels, mugs and travel bottles, pillow covers, mobile cases, laptop skins and sleeves, coasters and acrylic blocks, bags and pouches, clocks, magnets and stickers, etc. You can get my designs printed on your choice of items. I also have a range of products available for purchase locally like bookmarks, framed artwork and various other customized items.

2. How did you get your idea or concept?

It was in 2016 when I first bought a coloring book for adults with beautiful Mandala designs. Back then, all I knew was to use color pencils and I felt refreshed and relaxed while doing it. Never had I imagined myself taking up drawing Mandalas. But with time in hand during the pandemic and lots of artists’ pages on social media, I just thought of giving it a try. The first time I tried, I failed so miserably that I didn’t go back to drawing for 2 months. But in those 2 months the thought of trying never left my mind. And finally, with a great deal of patience, persistence and a huge support system comprising of my mom and some very close friends, I started my own art page on Instagram dedicated to Mandalas in July 2020.

3. What do the day-to-day responsibilities of the role look like?

Maintaining an art page on social media is really a tough task. Not to forget the highs and lows it gives to your psychological well-being. But the joy of creating something is unmatched to these virtual likes and lack of them – they help boost your morale but at the same time they should not be the deciding factor for your creations. I put my heart and soul in every piece, and I feel that helps people connect with it. Cosmic connections!

4. What are some of the mistakes you wish you could have avoided?

Just like there is no such thing as a free lunch, there is no learning in life without mistakes. Honestly, I do get irritated when I don’t get the desired results but my mom has her own way of encouraging and pushing me forward to keep trying until I get what I want.

5. Are you happy and what would you change?

I am extremely happy with what I am doing right now and cannot really think of anything I would like to change. But I would like to take a moment here to extend a huge thanks to my bunch of BFFs for the incessant love and support they have given me throughout my journey and which I am sure will continue for a lifetime!

6. A quote you stand by
Two quotes that totally apply to my situation:
“The only thing predictable about life is its unpredictability” AND
“Venture outside your comfort zone. The rewards are worth it”

This story makes us believe; we all have the artistic streak in us. Like they say, have feet – can dance. Now I believe, have fingers -- can draw! Thank you so much for sharing your story with us, I am so hopeful someone reading this, after a tiring day in office, sets aside the laptop and thinks --- Let’s do it!
