Krishna Janamasthami - Eternal bond of a child and mother

India is a land of festivals. We profoundly bank on our festivals to build our relationships and carry forward our traditions. India being a secular nation we have scores of festivals that cross the boundaries of race and religion. One festival that just passed by is Krishna Janamasthami. Krishna Janamasthami is celebrated on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) in Shraavana or Bhadrapad (depending on whether the calendar chooses the new moon or full moon day as the last day of the month), which overlaps with August or September of the Gregorian calendar.

Lord Krishna, and his birth and his early childhood are all about the bond he shared with Yashoda his foster mother. This got me thinking how deep the love between a mother and her child can be. A mother can do all that one can fathom for her child. Devaki the birth mother of Krishna did the ultimate sacrifice of letting go of her child for his own wellbeing. But a mothers heart is always with their kids, no matter if they are near or far. Devaki’s sacrifice if far beyond any expression of love. On the other end if we look at Yashoda, she is a true epitome of love. Her love for her Kanha is known for all moments mushy and mischief.

A child may outgrow a mother’s lap but never her heart. A mother is the one who loves, cares and knows all that a child doesn’t say. When a child is born , a mother is born. The child learns to talk and understand the world very late, but a mother’s conversation with her child start from day one in womb. Noting can beat this connection of love and belonging. No picture can be prettier and no smile can be brighter then when a mother is clicked with her child. Her eyes sparkle with joy and heart is so full of love. Let’s take this opportunity and add a smile to all the lovely moms outs there. Also lets understand there is no perfect mother out there, we all outshine our flaws with the love we shower.

Let me conclude, with a beautiful line, “Labor is the only blind date, where you know you will meet the love of your life!”

Thanks to all these lovely moms, for sharing their joy and happiness with us! Do share your best pics in the comments with your thoughts on the relationship between a mother and her kids.
