Jagte Raho Mohan Pyaare --- Post-lunch dip
How
many times have you evaded, scheduling a meeting post lunch? All just to avoid
the collective lethargy in the room and to make sure you get all the needed
attention from the group. Post lunch most people experience drowsiness,
especially after a grand lunch. This drops your productivity and makes it
difficult to concentrate on work at hand. This is a rather common phenomenon,
and all we want is to crawl under our desk and disappear into dreamland.

To
begin with, lets first reassure ourselves that this is but natural and it’s our
body’s circadian rhythm to blame for. There is a lot of science behind this,
but what’s of more curiosity is how can we deal with it? Let me list few of my
tried and tested methods that have worked for me most times. For those few
farfetched times when you cannot really control, have coffee and be merry!
- Check your nighttime routine, make sure to get 7-8 hrs of sleep. Try and maintain sleep times and hrs.
- Eat a light and filling meal for Lunch. Concentrate on the Protein on your plate, avoid Carbohydrate/fat rich meals. One way to make this happen is to have adequate breakfast, so that we are not fasting and ultimately hogging off everything at lunch.
- Have small walk post lunch, do kick off the lethargy.
- Hydrate well during lunch, avoid caffeine and sugar loaded beverages.
Remember,
at the end of the day its natural and your body is trying to indicate something
to you. It may be a signal that you need to stop and rest for a while. So
listen to the subtle signals of your body and react to them.
These
are my ways to fight the Post-lunch dip. Do share yours 😁
